Case 1:
A 24 year old lady was under my treatment during her second pregnancy for an easy labour. I was giving her Caulophyllum 30 one dose daily. One night her husband came to tell me that his wife was unwell. When I reached the patients place, the lady had delivered. Since all this happened very fast, she could not be hospitalized. A gynaecologist was called to assist the delivery at home. He checked and said that both the mother and the baby were fine and there seemed no need for hospitalization. However, by evening the patient developed fever and started convulsing and I was called again. I advised immediate hospitalization. But the patient was reluctant so as to avoid the cost of hospitalization.

I made the following observations:

  1. Unconsciousness during coma
  2. Malaise and bodyache after convulsion.
  3. Better by stretching upper and lower limbs.
  4. Limbs very cold to touch.
  5. Profuse sweating
  6. Involuntary urination during convulsion
  7. High temperature
  8. Thirsty
  9. High fever with pale face.

Treatment: Amyl-nitrosum 200 one dose dissolved in a cup of water. One spoon of this was to be taken every 10 minutes.

The next morning the husband informed me that the lady had no convulsion since she had started the medicine. There was no fever too.

Case 2:
A 35 year old male, working in a bank, was under my treatment for bronchial asthma since one year. He was doing well under the treatment. He did not have a single attack of asthma since the treatment was started despite the weather changes and also after eating sour and spicy foods which usually aggravated the condition.

Unfortunately he was once exposed to a draft of cold air continuously for about 5 hours while traveling. As a result he developed a cold. When he reached his destination, the cold worsened and by the next day he had fever, cough and dyspnoea.

On taking the case, the following symptoms were obtained -
Severe asthmatic respiration. Cough without expectoration. Chest seems full of phlegm but nothing comes out.
Very fearful, anxious expression on the face as if he was going to die at any moment. To relieve his discomfort there were two table fans and one ceiling fan on. Severe body pains especially in lower limbs, profuse perspiration when coughing.
Constipation. Had not passed stools since two days.
Desires tea with alae.
Asthma better by lying on chest. Weeping.

Treatment: Medorrhinum 200 one dose dissolved in one cup of drinking water and to take one teaspoonful every ten minutes.
After 8 hours he reported saying that he was much better. Cough had decreased to 1-2 in an hour. The wheezing was less. He had profuse perspiration and was very thirsty. He wanted to drink cold repeatedly. Arsenic-alb 30, ten doses were given which cured the fever, prostration and removed the dyspnoea, wheezing, anxiety and fear.

Case 3:
A 70 years old lady was admitted to the hospital for severe dysentery since ten days. She was allergic to many allopathic medicines. I talked to her son and he said that the patient was very prostrated and was not willing to talk. She had 10 to 15 stools in the day time but never at nighttime. There was not much tenesmus. Stools were offensive with white mucus which looked like long threads. Stools acrid and caused burning at the anus. Severe loss of appetite since 8 days with a swollen abdomen. She could drink only fruit juice. Breath was offensive.

On a detailed inquiry, it was revealed that she and her daughter-in-law had quarrelled and had controversies before this complaint had occurred. Due to this she was grieved and was indignant.
The rubric Aliments from grief and Indignation was referred.

Treatment: Colchicum 30 was given in one cup of water. One teaspoon each to be taken every 10 minutes tds. By evening she was well and had not passed a single stool. She also had some food to eat. The response was very good and by third day she was discharged from the hospital.

(Editor: This remedy is not covered under the rubric (indignation) probably he means Colocynth?).
