Work, Worry and Weather (3 Ws in Love and Baileys Surgery - Text Book) are believed to be the predisposing causes for peptic ulcer. However this lady aged 55 did not have any of the above three and yet developed duodenal ulcer.

She was admitted to a private hospital for an operation for chronic duodenal ulcer with spastic Pylorus. The operation was slated for the next day as she had a severe pain in the epigastrium with vomiting and not relieved with conventional medication. She had suffered for almost five years but all treatment failed to relieve.

When she was seen on the 26th of January 1992, she was in agonizing pain with anxiety writ on her face.

Upper GI Endoscopy revealed Chronic Duodenal Ulcer with Pyloric Stenosis.

Carbo-veg 200 single dose was dissolved in a glass of water. Two teaspoonful of this was given every ten minutes.

A duodenal ulcer, if not healed early the fibrous tissue deposition over the pylorus causes narrowing and obstruction, result in loss of appetite, vomiting of food eaten long time back. This complication can be easily treated with appropriate homoeopathic treatment.

Carbo-veg relieved her of the pain and she was discharged without the operation performed. She was continued on Carbo-veg 200, then 1M and later 10M.

Upper GI Endoscopy done on 24th July 1992 confirmed no evidence of any pyloric stenosis. The patient was free from any complaints.
