I have been fortunate to treat domestic animals like cows, bullocks, buffaloes, dogs and goats many times with homoeopathic remedies. The infinitely small doses of homoeopathic medicines worked exceedingly well, confirming Hahnemanns theory.

Animals too have a life force like humans. The only difference is that they are not able to express their feelings and sensations.

CASE 1:

Distemper in a Dog:

A good breed pet dog was diagnosed by the Vet as having Distemper. Regular medicines failed. The dog had a high fever (105 degree F) since the past 5 days and was refusing feeds and water.

Lachesis 30 cured the dog in 3 days.

CASE 2:

Beri Beri in a Buffalo

20 years ago I had the chance of treating a buffalo. All joints of the limbs were swollen and tender. The body was puffed with a tense skin. The buffalo moaned at every breath.

She was six months pregnant and the owner was feeding her boiled horse bean (Urad dal) with mustard oil in anticipation that this diet would yield more milk after parturition.

Mustard oil is usually adulterated with the oil of Prickly poppy seed (Argemone-mexicana) which causes symptoms of Beri Beri and Nyctalopia.

I prescribed Argemone-mexicana 30 TDS (4 globules of 30 nos. size as each dose). The buffalo was cured within a week and gave birth to a calf uneventfully.

CASE 3:

Rabies like symptoms in a pet bitch.

My younger sister had a beautiful female Pomeranian. Once when the bitch was 3-4 years old, she became terribly sick. The symptoms observed were -

1. Blood shot eyes
2. Saliva continuously running out of the mouth
3. Both the ears and tail were drooping
4. Apathy to everything
5. No appetite. No thirst. She would not even look at water or milk.
6. She was chained to a bush where she kept pushing her head constantly at the bush.

Suspecting Rabies, feeling that it would not be easy to administer any medicine to the bitch. I asked my sister to dissolve Hydrophobinum 200 in milk and try to compel the bitch to lick it. After a little effort the bitch finally touched and licked the milk.

Dr. Kent says - it is a matter of touch and touch did the magic. The ears of the bitch came up erect and became more alert.

It was 6 p.m. when this took place. By 4 a.m. the pt was completely free from any symptoms and barked as normal.

CASE 4:

Mouth and Foot Disease of Cows

In this disease the animal is affected first with fever. It stops grazing or taking food and stops ruminating. Saliva dribbles from the mouth. Later, ulcers start developing between the toes which are painful and bleed. If hygiene is not maintained at the ulcers, there may be worm infestation of the wound. During the entire sickness the animal is very distressed.

In my experience Natrum-mur 30 is very efficient in the first stage of the disease. It aborts the disease in a very short time and saves the animal from trouble.

CASE 5:

Pneumonia in a cow

a 5 month pregnant cow had an attack of pneumonia. The following were the symptoms-

1. Fever
2. Great shivering. All the hair of the body were erect.
3. Great rattling in the lungs which could be heard even from a distance.
4. Had neither passed urine nor dung.
5. No rumination
6. Unable to sit down.
7. Distress on face.
8. Nose - icy cold.

Arsenic-alb 30 first dose was given at 6 p.m. and another at midnight after which the cow sat down and looked comfortable.

By 4 a.m. the cow had passed urine and dung and was cured the next morning.

I have treated many other animal cases with homoeopathic remedies with successful results which prove beyond doubt the universality of Hahnemannian Homoeopathy.
