Mrs H B Shah, age 31 yrs, OCCUPATION: Teacher 

Chief Complaints
Headache associated with nausea, vomiting and eructations, which give momentary relief. Lt sided headaches gradually increasing remains for few hours to even 2-3 days without relief. Agg by strong smells of perfumes, petrol, kerosene. Agg Direct sun on the head. Agg by noise. Better by pressure, better by pain killer [balm] better by sleep and better by vomiting. Also < by onions, masala food when hungry, smell of non vegetarian food, smell of tomatoes, smell of insecticides, spicy food, before menses, when constipated, loss of sleep, laughing, yawning, moving eyes, after sex.
Lumbo sacral backache preceeds the headache which is better by pressure. 

Past History
Tonsillectomy [13yrs], Jaundice [30 yrs], Miscarriage -3 [28,29,30 yrs] - 1st Trimester
Retroverted, hypoplastic uterus probably the cause of 3 abortions. 

Family History : 5 sisters, all obese and 2 have diabetes.
Physical Generals
Desires : Salt, sour and chinese food.
Aversion : Bitter food, sweets, smell of non-veg food [causes nausea, vomiting and headache]
Stools : Constipation, hard dry on alternate days with lot of straining.
Urine : Involuntary when controlled for a long time
Sweat : On palms, soles, upperlip, face. Foul smelling, stains the cloth yellow.
Menses : Menarche 13 yrs, regular. 28-30/2 days. Flow reddish brown, stale fish smell. Difficult to wash. Before menses pain in nipple and breast with back ache. 

Life Situation
This patient was a very much neglected child. Parents were expecting the 5th child to be a son and thus she was believed to a curse and a burden and was deprived of love, affection and warmth. Parents used to beat her even for minor mistakes. Once the father even burnt her hand with a hot pan. So the patient grew up to be very timid, nervous, forgetful, introverted and with great lack of self-esteem. She had a tremendous insecurity.
Dreams : Many but cannot remember.
Sleep : Restless, easily startled with noise and unrefreshed in the morning.
Very emotional, sensitive, brooding over past and future. Feels unwanted. She was very depressed, thought of suicide with a deep seated anxiety and to relieve this she often masturbated.
This case was diagnosed by Neurophysicians as migraine. She had taken treatment for 6 months, but because of acidity and skin allergic reaction, she had stopped allopathic medicine now. 

Treatment
She was given Mag-carb 200 and gradually the potency was steeped up during a period of 2 years. During this period she was relieved in all aspects and even her outlook of life changed. 

Salient features of Magnesium are
1] neglected childhood
2] unwanted child, deprived of love and affection or not properly breast fed
3] child reared like not their own. 

I have often found Magnesium useful in
1] Malabsorbtion diarrhoea with milk intolerance
2] Alcoholism, drug addiction, STD.
3] Psychosomatic diseases like peptic ulcers etc.
4] Chronic constipation
5] Deep seated anxiety, depression and lack of self confidence
6] Delayed milestones.
