This is a case of a 19 years old girl, a doctors daughter. She had everything going for her in life, but due to disappointment in her academic career she developed depression.

The story started with the results of 12th standard when she got less marks and missed her admission to the Medical College. Father was ready to get her admitted in a Non-grant Medical College but the patient refused. She accepted her doctor fathers proposal to get admission in a Homoeopathic Medical College (BHMS). This girl was not happy there; so she completed one year of her study and left the college. Father changed her college and took admission in another Homoeopathic Medical College. In the meantime, her younger sister completed her 12th standard and took admission at an Architecture College where she successfully completed her 1st year. Because of this, she developed jealousy about her younger sister and started quarrelling with her parents saying that they were paying more attention to her younger sister.

Her father thought that she had this attitude because she could not get admitted in an MBBS course. So he tried to get her admission for MBBS in Russia and succeeded. As the day for departure came nearer, the patient changed her mind. She developed fears, sweating of palms and soles, sleeplessness, fear to meet strangers, etc. She wanted to stay at home, dreamt of study, developed lack of confidence, became confused and more jealous of her sister and suspicious of parents.

The patient was under psychiatric treatment before she was brought to me. She developed suicidal tendency but lacked courage. She also became revengeful and wanted to divert all house members attention towards her.

She wept while telling her symptoms with a piteous cry which increased with sympathy shown by me during case taking.

I initially gave Pulsatilla 1M, one dose but it did not make any difference. Later I gave her Lachesis 1 M single dose and Bachs flower remedy - Holly, 5 drops, twice a day. It was my previous experience that Bach flower remedies effectively replaced allopathic psychiatric medicines.

After a week she was quite well. Holly was continued for another week during which the patient improved considerably.

Meanwhile the patients father an allopath, consulted a leading Psychiatrist who did her neuro analysis and labeled her as Schizophrenic. Treatment started with ECT and allopathic drugs in large doses. Again there was a relapse with greater intensity, for 2-3 months and hence her father brought her to me with a word apology.

I started her treatment with Lachesis 1 M single dose and Holly. 5 drops twice a day, with which patient become completely well in a fortnight. She is now doing well and studying Arts for last 3 years.
