Onset, Duration & Progress:
Patient has been suffering for last 3 years. He attributes it to beatings he got from his tuition teacher 3 yr ago, which ended in an abscess that had to be incised and drained. After this episode, all the present symptoms have started. Whole body aches, everywhere there is muscles pain, he is not able to do his daily routines, misses schools frequently (at least 10-15 days in a month) for treatment in different hospitals.

Past & Treatment History:
No significant past history other than the abscess developed after an injury.
Presently he is continuing treatment in one of the research institute in Manipal.Where he was diagnosed as having Vasculitis. He is presently on Wysolone 40 mg (Steroids) twice per day for the last 3 years. Now he is almost dependent on steroids; as a result of which he has gained tremendous weight. He took both Ayurveda as well as Homoeopathic medications from a local doctor without any relief.

Family History :
Father: Hypertensive and Diabetic on treatment.

Life space investigation:
He hails from a middle class family of Mangalore studying in 7th standard. Father is a government employee and mother is a staff nurse. He has a 5 year old younger brother. His early childhood was uneventful; he was an active child but recently he has became dull, cannot exert himself, needs help and support of parents for going to school and other daily activities. He now likes to sit alone, gets angry fast and shouts at people. He often cries out of anger. He does not have any friends nor does he play, as there is severe bodyache. He told us that now he has adjusted to this situation. He is worried about his disease and feels hopeless that no medicine can cure him. He likes to study, gets 7th rank and wants to improve still further in his studies. He has a hobby of collecting stamps.

He says that he avoids company as others insult him. He says he no longer believes in God and has stopped visiting temples. His memory is sharp, perceptions are clear. Parents say he is very obstinate and sticks to his decisions.

Physical Generals:
Obese: Increased weight gain for the last 3 years: Cushingoid appearance.
Perspiration: Generally increased, partially in back of the body, face, back

Result & Inference:
Since this was a steroid dependent Vasculitis, it was not so easy to completely stop the steroids, because even with steroids he was unable to carry out his daily routines like going to school etc.

The case was Repertorised and final differentiation was done by using Materia Medica. Vasculitis, in this case, happened as a result of derangement of the constitution. It required a deep acting constitutional medicine to correct it. That is how the constitutional Nat-mur showed such a wonderful result. At present patient is completely off steroids. Potency 200 was maintained as patient was showing good response to 200, it was unnecessary to modify the potency.

Hypericum
was used as a specific remedy for severe kind of pain/ ie SOS. when pain unbearable.

Conclusion:
Homoeopathic medicines can really help in stopping Steroids and help the constitution to fight back the diseases.
