A Case of Epilepsy

Case 1
Mr. R.A., 25 years of age, came on 11^th Dec. 92, for treatment of epilepsy of 20 years for which he was prescribed Gardenal daily, without desired effect.
The convulsions were more common in the evening, and with consciousness.

Mentals:
He was mild and intelligent. He had a fear of thunderstorms.
Physical Generals:
Craving - Pungent, fats
Thermal - sensitive to heat
Past history of vaccination
Family history:
Diabetes in father, asthma in grandfather, tuberculosis in uncle and epilepsy in sister (dead).
Rubrics taken

3. Convulsion worse evening SR II 101.

Treatment:
Sulphur 200 one dose was given daily for six days and advised to discontinue Gardenal.

Follow-up:
15^th Nov 92 - No convulsion
27^th Jan 93 - No convulsions. Sulphur 10M one dose. Placebo
24^th Feb 93 - Convulsions on the 19^th at 12:30 PM lasting for 5 minutes
2^nd April 93 - No convulsions.
Placebo
16^th June 93 - No convulsions.
Placebo
20^th July 93 - No convulsions.
Placebo
23^rd July 93 - No convulsions.
Placebo.

EDITOR: A 2 year follow-up is necessary before a cure can be labelled. Now it can be termed only as palliation or under observation.

Case 2
Mr. S.K. Choudhary, aged 10 years, suffered from convulsions since last three months, 12 to 14 times in a day. CT scan and a ECG done. He was treated with Gardinal and a few drugs. No improvement was noticed, hence allopathic drugs were stopped after one month.

23-4-93 on taking detailed case, I saw that he was always drowsy. Due to a paucity of symptoms, I decided to try a rare drug Oenanthe-croc mentioned by Anshultz in New Old and Forgotten Remedies. I gave Oenanthe-croc Q three drops three times a day. Improvement followed thereafter.

02.07.93 - No convulsions.- Placebo
26.07.93 - Convulsion at 4.30 p.m. (Very slight for two minutes only).
08.08.93 - No convulsions.- Placebo
17.08.93 - Loose stools, take allopathic drugs. - Placebo tds
25.08.93 - No convulsions. - Placebo tds continued.

Note: Gardinal was stopped before beginning his treatment. Patient is still under observation.
