The Child Gambler
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1993 Jul / Aug Vol II No 4.
Dr Neera R K.
` Ars / Tarent

Master JP, 10 years of age came with his mother with the following complaints -
Chief complaint - Increased frequency of urination, every 30 minutes. He drinks water frequently, 2-3 sips at a time.
Associated complaints - Burning in the abdomen which is better after drinking cold water or fruit juice.
Past history - Inguinal hernia and Tuberculosis for which he was treated for 9 months.

Personal history
Restless, cannot sit at one place. He is always playing with things in his hands and eventually breaks them. Talkative, jovial and obstinate. Likes to draw and do craftswork. Dislike black colour. Likes to bet and win, and will do anything to see that he wins.

Treatment
7-7-90 - Ars-alb 30, 4 pills three doses and SL tds for 7 days.
14-7-90 - No improvement. Case reviewed. Tarentula-h 30, 4 pills, three doses followed with SL for 15 days.
28-7-90 - Better. Tarentula-h 30, 4 pills, three doses followed with SL for 15 days.

The next time the patient came, his frequency of urination had decreased. No burning in abdomen. A few months ago, the patient had come for minor ailments and this also responded well to Tarentula-hisp.

The child was given Arsenic 30 and he did not respond. On reviewing the case, the totality obtained was -

  1. Restless
  2. Busy - fruitless
  3. Jesting
  4. Black and sombre, colours aversion to
  5. Destructive
  6. Cunning - deceitful
  7. Mischievous

The cunningness and obstinacy were evident by his betting and desire to win anyway. Restlessness is the core of this patient. All these pointed towards Tarentula-h naturally, which cured his complaints.
