In 1991, my younger brother suffered from severe pain in a right-sided carious upper premolar, with a large cavity. The pain was paroxysmal and severe.
ChamomillaCoffea and other remedies did not give any relief. According to the dentist there was pus at the root of the carious tooth. He prescribed antibiotics and a pain killer. This treatment was continued for a few days but in vain.
When there was no relief, I decided to try Homoeopathy again. Therefore, I collected his symptoms, which were as follows:

·         Pain stitching in the tooth extending to the eye.

·         Pain was felt more in the eye than the tooth.

·         Pain used to aggravate in the evening

·         Pain in the eye was so severe that he used to jump and dance in the open air, pressing his eye with his hands, which gave him some relief.

On consulting Kent Repertory under teeth, against the rubic tooth, pain, stitching, extending to the eyes (page 445). Bov, Calc, Nat-m,Sulph were found. To select one of these, Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica by Clarke was consulted. There, under teeth, inBovista is noted "Drawing odontalgia, esp in hollow teeth, in the evening and at night, mitigated by heat and walking in the open air." And the symptom "stitching in the teeth extend to the eyes" found in Allen's Encyclopedia Vol II in Bovista.

So I gave a dose of Bovista 30 and asked him to rest; in a short while the pain was mitigated and he got natural sleep for 3-4 hours first time in many days. On waking the pain was gone completely. He did require a few more doses of Bovista 30 with slight return on pain. Since then he has had no relapse.
