Truth about Teeth

As we fight tooth and nail to maintain our existence, right from the very young age, so also we take utmost care to keep our teeth intact and remain beautiful. It is true that out appearance depends a lot on teeth. We may not be very old but due to premature falling of teeth we look old and haggard and may suffer an inferiority complex, making us shy of public appearances. Our pronunciation and accent get affected without teeth, as our tongue loses the support of the teeth and becomes utterly helpless and unguarded. 

Teeth are also associated with expression of emotion. When angry we bite and grind them, while joy is expressed with a nice toothy smile and wide open mouth. A person's smile exposes his inner personality and colour of teeth and gums his health. Gums are beefy red in acute inflammation, grayish in anemia, blue in lead poisoning and green in copper poisoning. Decayed teeth indicate syphiltic miasm, as uneven overlapping teeth points to sycotic one. 

A female baby cuts teeth earlier than a male infant as also females lose their teeth earlier. In this age of fast food we rarely need exercising our teeth to chew. So the teeth are growing smaller and smaller as compared to preceding generation. As it is said "What you don't use, you are going to lose". A day may come when human beings will have no teeth or they will be in very rudimentary stage like the appendix of today. 

Toothache
Most of the cases of acute toothache become unmanageable with Homoeopathy and we need to refer them to the dentist. But in some cases when patient do not respond to the conventional medication, Homoeopathic medicine may achieve a miraculous relief. 

Case
A 56 yr lady came one day with severe toothache in [L] premolar. She had been taking medicine from a dentist for last 15 days but no relief. Toothache appears only when she goes to bed at night and never occurs in day time. She could not remain in bed and must spend her night sitting up till morning. She had no modality except occasional feeling of coldness in her unaffected teeth. Her gums are healthy. She had cervical spondylitis. Appetite, Stool, Urine, Thirst are all normal.
I looked up the Rubrics

All of the above said rubrics pointed to Aranea-diadema. I gave her a dose of Aran-d 30 and gave 2 powders as SOS, to be taken if needed. She reported to have slept undisturbed that night and kept those 2 doses for emergency use. After a week she reported complete freedom from toothache. Till I had this experience I regarded Aranea-diadema as a remedy for Malaria and neuralgia of chilly patient and never for toothache. 

Loss Of Enamel
After the loss of enamel, teeth become sensitive to sour, hot and cold water, cold things, sucking air etc. There is no treatment for this condition of teeth in modern medicine. Kent's repertory shows Calc-flour and Sil for enamel deficiency [P-432], but there is no mention at all, of Calc-flour against the following rubrics which are supposed to occur in deficiency of enamel of teeth. Perhaps none of the following symptoms have ever been found in the proving of Calc-flour.

In practice I have seen that the prescription of Calc-flour in such a condition as described above has never failed; and I strongly believe that Calc-flour should be included against the above mentioned rubrics.
