Case 8: Can Myopia be helped by Homoeopathy?

Introduction This case held special happiness for us, because patient had not come to us for 4 yrs and when she came back only we learnt that the myopia was better, and had continued to improve and patient acknowledged that It was due to the Homoeopathy only. Most often patients, when they discontinue treatment, always say it improved on its own!

Ms RR 7 yrs came to our clinic on 25th July 1995.

Chief Complaint

1. Eyes: Myopia. Weak eyesight. So Squint (Lt) since birth. Realized while reading sisters book. Ophthalmologists suggested eye exercise. The numbers are as follows:

2. Since 10 days, she has Supraorbital headache with sudden pain pounding³, as if blood rushing to head. < am³, < afternoon 1 pm, < heat, > evening when it is cool.

3. Tonsillitis since 3 years, 2/yr for 10 days. < Chocolate, < ice-cream. Gets fever 102-103. Throat pain. Cough. Watery coryza.

4. Nocturnal enuresis 1/mth.

5. On 15th October 04: Lumbosacral. Backache since 2002.

Patient As Person
HT: 49.5'. WT: 25 kg.
Perspiration: Normal. On face, palms. Non-staining.
Hair: NORMAL.
Nails: Bites Occasionally.
Teeth: Caries +++.
Appetite: Good.
Craving: Chocolate, cold drinks³, wafers, icecream³, sweets, bhel, snacks³, spices³.
Aversion: Karela. Thirst: Less, 5-6 glasses/day.
Stool: 1 / day. Urine: N. except bedwetting.
Mother's Obstetric History: Nausea 1st few month. Constipation.
Developmental History: Normal. FTND. Birth weight: 3.5 kgs.
Sleep: Normal. Talks in sleep. Dreams: frightful.
Thermals: CH4.
Past History: Ankle sprain.

20/10/98	Bodyache. <am. Sensitive. Stubborn. Hairy. We reviewed the case and found that the prescriptions so far were prejudiced i.e Phos was given as a specific for Myopia and Bar-c for size of tonsils. And both had not helped. When totalit0y taken into account, the case was Nat-mur and it is only the constitutional which helps the patient and not specifics. And as can be seen, the myopia responded only since 99. Conclusion: The patient and her sister are under my care since childhood, regularly till 1998. Then on call: which means whenever they were sick, they came to me. Tehre was a hiatus of no treatment between 2000-2004. After that the younger sister has been regular for the treatment and the patient would ask for the treatment with her for cough. When she came to us on 17th Jan 2006, we took the detailed follow up. And as reported, the numbers has improved drastically. She had not taken any other medication in this span. And when we told her that the credit goes to Homoeopathy, she said of course I will give you credit!: Mummy always says my daughters have been well because of homeopathy!! Felt good, like a bonus -unexpected and pleasant.
