Case 18: When Staph Failed

Interestingly Dr Muthukumar gives another case where Staph was well indicated but failed. Here are the details.

An old man aged 72 years had undergone cataract surgery of his left eye. He said that he had earlier lost the vision of his right eye by foolishly seeing the solar eclipse with his naked eye. The cataract operation was not very successful as the patient complained that his vision of the left eye was also lost almost fully. He could perceive a ray of light and nothing more. More than that he was upset by the "inhuman treatment" meted out to him by the eye surgeon. When the patient contacted this surgeon about the loss of vision the surgeon refused to meet him giving flimsy excuses. The patient was terribly annoyed and was angry with the surgeon for a long time; his anger was visible even when he consulted Dr Muthukumar about his condition. He also complained of giddiness on getting angry.

Dr Muthukumar thought that the similimum in this case would be Staph and writes:
"I gave Staphysagria with confidence. What misplaced confidence! Staph left me in the lurch" So he again analyzed the case as under:-
"Here the man's anger was palpable. All about something that happened more than a year ago."
"Anger, about former vexations- Calc, Carbo-an, Sep;
"Anger about past events- Calc, Carbo-an, Sepia; (Repertorium Gen)
Vertigo, after anger (ibid)- Acon, Calc
Calc-carb was selected and administered in various potencies and behold! that a partial vision was restored so much that he could pluck flowers from the garden for doing pooja.
Both cases 11 an d 12, needed Calcarea-carb and in both the cases the patients were mortified.
